Mothers Day
This weekend it's another one of those damn commercial holidays. You know the ones that people like to have a bit of a grumble about “we don't need an enforced day to tell our mums we love them”. No we don't. But it's a bloody good excuse to.
So I, like many other millions of people will be spending the day with my ma on Sunday. They are special, our mums, and lets not forget they taught us everything we know. A recent rummage through old photographs showed that goes for style as much as anything else. Despite the 25 year age gap between my mother and I, we seem to be following a rather familiar fashion path. And I thought I was original!
Here she is rocking a few key styles: the skinny jean, double denim, oversized knits, rock tee, floral maxi and even a spot of retro Mickey.
(Baby, models own. Dog, models own. Equally stylish, mullet donning bloke, also models own. The rest is available in shops and markets nationwide.)
I am my mothers daughter, and I am proud to be.
Love you Mum x
Kate for Mango
Spanish fashion brand Mango have a new face, I'm sure you haven't missed it. She made herself quite known by collapsing on innocent bystanders in London's Oxford St recently, well a 15ft wooden version did anyway. Yup, Ms Moss is promoting the brand's SS12 collection, replacing Scarlett Johansson.
Despite Scarlett, and many other fashion icons and A-list actresses such as Penelope Cruz, Milla Jovovich, Lizzy Jagger and Diane Kruger fronting the international fashion brand previously, I felt surprised when I first heard the words Kate & Mango together. She is as iconic and A-list in many respects, but just not quite in the same vein.
But it works. The sixties inspired styles look great on her, and although I still feel the brand to be not-very-kate, she pulls it off. This croydon lass has certainly been mangoed, looking uncharacteristically groomed and glowing, but looks all the healthier for it.
This may just get you ready for Spring.
Hello 2012
Apologies for my recent absence. Lets kickstart the year with a throwback to the result of Movember 2011 (continuity & all that). This is how the boy turned out.
Rather dashing wouldn't you say.
